I”m not the best with dates, but it was back when there were still organizations like “The Kuntz and Maguire Party Machine” and Propaganda. I do recall that it was well jameshallison casino before the onslaught of ironic t-shirt designs we now know today. These were printed in batches of 50 to be given out at the wrap party or to wipe up tears. Sort of dated now, but at the time it was one of the many classy things those two did.

Every now and again a brand new surf board shows up at the office. Typically en route to Indonesia where our dear friend Chris Hoy has managed to disappear to. Always happy to drop what I”m doing to lay down a “Larry” or two. Chris taught me many tricks of our trade back in the music video days. Having watched him running up and down the arm of a condor many times, it is no wonder that he now spends his days charging big waves and occasionally scrubbing his beard on the reef. Not bad for a kid from the valley.

While this piece predates Majestic Persuasions, I did feel it was worth sharing. At the time i was still studying under the great Robbie Freed. By far the best piece of art direction I accomplished that year. It also illustrates a little known fact that Randy Krallman is in fact a very short person.

Back before the digital age, when decorators would still have to process film before presenting. Except in Cuba, where they really did do it the old fashioned way. Above are the prop drawings provided by our local decorator. While cameras and film were easy to come by, processing was apparently not so readily available. Havana would forever change my own aesthetic  by teaching me just how much can be done with so little at hand. It would also be the one and only time I would see Floyd Albee operating an FX gag without a shirt and running full speed. Ten years ago, we both had the bodies to do such things.

I purchased this odd little camera on our last trip to Tokyo. It is about the size of an old 110 cartridge and shoots fuzzy little black and white stills. I’m assuming that the folks who designed it were more than just slightly inspired by Mr. Daido Moriyama.

The second Cafe Legs was one of the stranger chapters of Leg Life. You must admire Pat Tenore for supporting such a useless notion. Once completed, it remained closed to the public for the most part. On occasion I would drop by to make a coffee and smoke a few cigarettes. For the most part it just sat there alone, with the espresso machine warmed up and the Sansui dragging out a handful of old favorites. A great place to hole up and vanish for a few hours at a time.
